Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 24, 2026
Law Office of Jeffrey K. Greenwell, PLLC (“we,” “us,” or “the Firm”) operates greenwelllawoffice.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from visitors, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following ways:
- Information you provide. When you contact us through a form, email, or phone number listed on the Site, we collect the information you send (for example, your name, email address, phone number, and a description of your matter).
- Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect limited technical information, including your IP address, device type, browser type, pages viewed, referring URL, and time of visit. Some of this information is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see “Cookies and Tracking” below).
- Information from Google. We use Google Analytics to measure Site traffic and Google Ads to run basic paid-search advertising. We have configured these services to minimize the data they collect: we do not use Google Signals, we do not build remarketing audiences from our Site visitors, and we have disabled ads-personalization signals at the property level. Google Ads measures which ads result in website visits or phone calls (conversion tracking), but we do not use behavioral retargeting or audience-based advertising.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to inquiries and provide legal services to current clients;
- Operate, secure, and improve the Site;
- Measure overall Site traffic and whether our paid advertising leads visitors to contact us;
- Comply with applicable law and our professional obligations as Montana lawyers; and
- Protect the rights and safety of the Firm, our clients, and others.
We do not use your information to build behavioral profiles, target advertising to you based on your activity on our Site, or sell your information to anyone.
3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use them to:
- Keep the Site working properly (strictly necessary cookies — always on);
- Measure Site usage through Google Analytics (analytics cookies — on only if you consent); and
- Measure whether Google Ads leads to contacts with the Firm (conversion-tracking cookies — on only if you consent).
We do not use advertising cookies to build remarketing or retargeting audiences.
When you first visit the Site, a consent banner asks whether you want to allow analytics and conversion-tracking cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clicking “Cookie Settings” in the footer of the Site.
4. Google Analytics and Google Ads
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand general Site usage and Google Ads to run paid-search campaigns. We have configured both services to limit data collection:
- Google Signals is turned OFF;
- Remarketing audiences are NOT built from Site visitors;
- Ads-personalization signals are disabled;
- Data retention is set to the minimum available period;
- Granular location and device data collection is disabled.
Google Ads conversion tracking measures when a visitor who arrived from one of our ads takes an action (such as submitting the contact form). This tells us which ads are effective; it does not track you across other websites or build an advertising profile.
You can control Google’s use of your data in these ways:
- Adjust or turn off ad personalization at adssettings.google.com;
- Manage or delete data Google has collected about you at myactivity.google.com;
- Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout);
- Decline analytics and conversion-tracking cookies in our Site’s consent banner, or change your choice later from the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for targeted advertising or profiling. We share information only:
- With service providers who help us operate the Site, our email, our analytics, and our advertising (including Google, our website host, and our email provider), under contracts that limit their use of the information to providing services to us;
- When required by law, court order, subpoena, or legal process;
- To protect the Firm, our clients, or others from harm or illegal activity; and
- With your consent.
6. Data Retention
We keep information you submit through the Site for as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry and, if you become a client, for the period required by our records retention obligations as Montana lawyers. Analytics and conversion-tracking data is retained for a short period (two months or less, per our Google Analytics configuration) and then automatically deleted. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
7. Your Rights
If you are a Montana resident, the Montana Consumer Data Privacy Act gives you the right to:
- Confirm whether we process your personal information and access that information;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Delete personal information we have collected about you; and
- Obtain a portable copy of your personal information in a commonly used electronic format.
Because we do not sell personal information and do not engage in targeted advertising or profiling, the MCDPA opt-out rights for sale, targeted advertising, and profiling do not apply to our processing. If our practices change, we will update this Policy and notify you through the Site.
To exercise these rights, email us at Jeff@GreenwellLawOffice.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” Please tell us which right you are exercising and include enough information for us to verify your identity (typically, replying from the same email address you used to contact us is sufficient for visitors who submitted an inquiry). We will respond within 45 days, and may extend by an additional 45 days if necessary, with notice to you. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response. You may also contact the Montana Attorney General’s Office if you believe we have not properly handled your request.
Residents of other states may have similar rights under their state’s laws; we will honor those rights to the extent they apply to us.
8. No Attorney-Client Relationship Through the Site
Visiting the Site, reading content on the Site, or sending us an inquiry does not create an attorney-client relationship. An attorney-client relationship is formed only after we have completed a conflicts check and both you and the Firm have signed a written engagement agreement. Do not send us confidential or time-sensitive information through the Site until we have confirmed we can represent you.
9. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Links to Other Sites
The Site may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Review their privacy policies before providing personal information.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective date” above. Material changes will be announced on the Site for at least 30 days before they take effect.
